Most clubs collect registrations on a Google Form. You don't need to retype anyone or rename a single column: connect the form's responses sheet, check the preview, and import. Photos players uploaded to the form come in right after, each on the right player.
Before you start
- In Google Forms, open Responses → Link to Sheets, if your form isn't linked to a sheet already.
- Use the Google account that owns the form — or one the form's sheet and photo folder are shared with.
- Your season's registration should be open (the Players tab → Import players).
The first import
- Go to your season's Players tab and press Import players.
- Press Connect Google Sheet. A Google window opens: choose your account and allow access. DesiAuction can only open the files you pick in the next step — nothing else in your Drive.
- Pick your form's responses sheet.
- Check the line that says which columns matched (for example Player's Name → Player name, Photo → Photo (Google Drive link)). If one is wrong, press Change column matching and fix it — we remember your choice for next time.
- Read the preview: how many players are ready, and anything that needs fixing. Nothing is saved until you press Import.
- Press Import. Google's photo picker then opens by itself, showing only your players' photos: select them all and press Select.
- Check the photos against the names and press Upload.
When more players register
Open Import players and press Sync new players. We read your sheet again and show what changed — for example 3 new · 107 unchanged — so nobody is imported twice. Press Import, and the photo picker opens with only the new players' photos.
What the messages mean
- Submitted the form twice
- Two rows share a name and phone number. Import the rest and skip the copy — and check the player wasn't charged twice.
- Duplicate phone — same number as …
- Two different people gave one number, often a family phone. Each player needs their own number: press Fix here and enter theirs.
- Invalid phone "9.87654E+09"
- A spreadsheet program turned the number into a formula. Download or sync the sheet from Google again instead of re-saving it in Excel.
- Values to place
- An answer we can't read on our own — say a role called "Batting Allrounder" or a price band called "Category 1". Choose what it means once; every row with that answer follows.
- Needs fixing
- Each problem names the player and the row of your sheet. Press Fix here to correct it in place, or import everyone else and come back to it.
Prefer downloading?
In Google Forms, open Responses → ⋮ → Download responses (.csv) and drop the .zip into Import players — no need to unzip it. For photos, use Get photos from Google Drive on the Photos tab, or drop the zip Google Drive gives you for the form's photo folder; anything we can't match, you pick the player for.
